Twenty-five-year-old Anya Beanca Graham has been crowned Miss St. Mary Festival Queen 2025. She secured the coveted title during a competitive parish coronation held on June 7 at the Casa Maria Hotel in Port Maria. Wearing the sash Miss Rio Nuevo Battle Site, Graham stood out among five contestants and will now represent St. Mary at the Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Coronation, scheduled for August 2 at Jamaica 63 Independence Village, within the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston.
Currently awaiting the final results of her Bachelor's degree in Media and Communication, Graham is focused on a career in broadcasting, with plans to become a television and podcast host within the next five years. She also aspires to serve as Managing Director of a landscaping and sanitation company, reflecting her ambition to combine entrepreneurship with her passion for media.
Describing herself as warm hearted, kind, bubbly, and willing, Graham lists her special interests as helping the elderly, caring for the sick, and cooking for her loved ones.
The first runner up was Shaneal Boreland, Miss Galina Lighthouse, while third place went to Juelle Baker, Miss Tacky Falls.
In addition to the crown, Graham took home several sectional prizes - Most Congenial, Most Active in the Community, Most Culturally Aware, and Most Popular on Social Media. Boreland received the awards for Most Poised and Best Performance.
This year’s coronation was held before a small, invited audience due to operational and logistical considerations. Although the number of contestants was smaller than in previous years, each displayed exceptional talent and dedication. The event adhered strictly to official Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) protocols, ensuring the winner is as prepared for the national competition as the other parish queens.
The National Festival Queen Competition is sponsored by the Culture, Health, Arts, Sport, and Education (CHASE) Fund, Airports Authority of Jamaica, National Housing Trust, HEART/NSTA Trust, Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency, and Excelsior.
