Kingston, Jamaica: The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), an agency of the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, wishes to advise that the Floral Tribute commemorating the 114th anniversary of the birth of the Most Honourable Sir Donald Sangster, ON, KCVO, former Prime Minister of Jamaica, scheduled for Sunday, October 26, 2025, at National Heroes Park, has been cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.
Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia Grange, OJ, CD, MP, said that while the observance holds great historical and national significance, the safety and well-being of all participants remain the Ministry’s top priority.
“Sir Donald Sangster made a remarkable contribution to Jamaica’s development, and we continue to honour his legacy with gratitude and pride. However, in light of the current weather conditions, it is prudent that we cancel the Floral Tribute. We encourage everyone to stay safe and continue to keep our country in their prayers,” Minister Grange said.
The Ministry regrets any inconvenience caused and thanks the public and invited guests for their understanding and cooperation.
