With poise, confidence, and deep cultural pride, 28-year-old university student Deveta Dowling was crowned Miss St. Ann Festival Queen 2025 on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at the Marcus Garvey Technical High School in St. Ann's Bay. The coronation, held in front of an enthusiastic audience, saw Deveta rise above seven other contestants to claim the prestigious title.
Describing the moment as “nothing short of a dream,” Deveta credited her success to her mother’s unwavering support and constant prayers. “With her prayers for confidence answered, I stepped onto the stage with purpose,” she shared, reflecting on the emotional journey to the crown.
In addition to being named queen, Deveta also walked away with the sectional award for Most Culturally Aware, further cementing her as a powerful ambassador for her parish.
Her proud mother, Pauline Peters, believes this is only the beginning of a remarkable journey. “I know she will make St. Ann proud. I’m confident she’ll bring the national crown home on August 2,” she said, beaming with pride.
The evening also saw Anishka Parish being named 1st Runner-Up, while Keshauna Watkis claimed the title of 2nd Runner-Up. Keshauna also earned special recognition, winning the awards for Most Congenial and Most Active in the Community.
As the newly crowned queen, Deveta will represent St. Ann in the National Coronation of the Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Competition, slated for August 2. With her strong cultural grounding and heartfelt commitment to service, she’s ready to carry the hopes of her parish to the national stage.
