The Jamaica Customer Service Song Competition is now accepting Entries

The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) and the Jamaica Customer Service Association (JaCSA) join forces once again to host a song contest to promote good and effective customer service in Jamaica. The contest, dubbed ‘The Jamaica Customer Service Song Competition is now accepting entries for its fifth annual staging and will form part of the 2022 Customer Service Week celebrations, scheduled for October 2-8. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Celebrate Service Excellence: Re-igniting a Culture of Care”.

 “As we continue to celebrate the historic milestone of Jamaica's 60th Independence, the JCDC is proud to continue the dynamic partnership with the JaCSA in staging this youth-centered developmental competition that will help to transform the customer service landscape of Jamaica. We need a culture of more love, respect, and care within this society to reignite a light of hope and solid unity to blaze a prosperous society. The arts is a powerful vehicle to celebrate what is right about Jamaica and we are indeed committed to encouraging Jamaicans to spread the message of service excellence in the country,” said Ms. Elizabeth Smith, Director of Corporate Services at the JCDC.

Deputy Chairman at the Jamaica Customer Service Association, Mr. Richard Rowe also noted that, “JaCSA is pleased to partner once again with the JCDC in hosting this very important competition. The Association values the young people of this nation and recognizes them as our future service professionals and providers. The competition seeks to engage them in a meaningful way by exposing them to customer service. JCDC is known for unearthing and developing talents and so we are excited about our continued partnership in hosting this song competition.”

 

Youth aged 13 to 17 years are encouraged to participate in the competition by submitting a video of their school, community or church group performing an original song no later than September 22, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. The song must have a customer service message that resonates with this year’s theme.

Entries will be judged on the musical arrangement, originality/creativity, customer service message, presentation and interpretation or use, and relevance of lyrics and expressiveness. A team of adjudicators from the JCDC will select the top 10 songs that will then be posted to the JCDC social media platform for public viewing. The winner of the competition will be announced at the Jamaican Customer Service Annual Conference scheduled for October 2 – 3, 2022.
